Welcome to MP!
Below you will find some helpful information to help you navigate high school!
Our counselors' caseloads are organized by LAST NAME. We would like to guarantee your child will remain with the same counselor for 4 years, however, we cannot control new enrollments that may cause our caseloads to change. Our team works VERY closely together to ensure your child receives the best support. If your child falls behind on credits they may be referred to our Graduation Coach, Susan Billmire. She works closely with our team to ensure students receive additional support to meet graduation requirements.
Where To Start With Your Child
Students are encouraged to
Schedule an appointment with their counselor to discuss future plans. They can do this by clicking on the appointment tab.
Begin to review and research colleges. Focus on type of college (private/public/large/small), location, and programs offered. Freshman are not permitted to visit with college representatives that come on campus. They will be allowed Spring of their Sophomore year.
Take challenging courses. Course registration begins before December break. Look for information regarding course registration in Parent Square, our website, and other Myers Park social media.
Explore extra curricular activities- on/off campus. CFNC.org is a great resource.
Research community volunteer hours. Hours are encouraged and look great for colleges and work applications.
Look for employment. Obviously this is a family discussion, however, this also looks great on college application.
Build relationships with their teachers. These positive relationships are helpful when applying to college and needing college recommendations.
