College Application Process Checklist:
- Complete and send in the application, including sending in necessary application fees
Who is responsible: Student
Platform used: Common App or the individual school website

Complete an application for each school: use Common App or the individual school website. The Common App is a single platform that students can use to complete college applications.

Be sure to link your Common App to your Naviance account to ensure updates
. Sign the FERPA Waiver in Common App
. Request Teacher Recommendations in Naviance
Requested Recommendations come from students. MPHS teachers need to be requested through Naviance.
If you have a recommendation coming from someone not listed in Naviance, they will either need to a) be listed as a recommender on Common App or b) send their sealed recommendation through US Mail directly to the college admission's office
- Send standardized test scores (if your school requires it or you would like to send them)
Who is responsible: Student
Platform used: collegeboard.org or act.org
Send SAT Test Score(s) through College Board or send ACT Test Score(s) through ACT.org
- Send Transcripts
Update the "applying to" list in Naviance to reflect each school to which you are sending an application. Only these schools will get transcripts sent by the school counselor.
School Counselors send the student's official transcript as well as the School Report to schools
- Financial Aid/Scholarships
Who is responsible: Student
Platform used: Various including: scholarships tab in Naviance, and individual college/university scholarship information
Fill out the FAFSA with a parent/guardian (as it uses tax information from previous years)
