Activating your CP account
You will not be able to access MyCollege, Brightspace, or any other required CP platforms until both steps below have been successfully completed. These steps only have to be completed ONCE, not each semester.
If you have any issues or you are unable to claim/activate your account, please call the CPCC Help Desk (704-330-5000) or visit the Student Help Desk on the first floor of the Parr Center.
- Activate your account
Once you have your CPCC ID number, you can activate your account.
Go to https://activator.cpcc.edu/. Click Continue
Enter your CP ID number, Check Student and I'm not a Robot. Click Claim
Enter STUDENT Date of Birth and STUDENT Zip Code
You will need access to the email account you used on your CP application: it will send an email with an authorization code. Check your email for this code.
If your parent used their email on the application, that is where it will go. (NOTE: if this is the case, you should go to Parr Center Student Help Desk and update the email address on your student account to your email address.)
This code is LONG! Best practice would be to copy/paste it. then enter the code
Enter the code on the activator page. You'll also need to enter the email address that the code was sent to.

Click Verify
You will then be taken to a screen to create a new password. WRITE IT DOWN.
You will see a 'Success' screen that gives you your username and email address. WRITE THESE DOWN. Your email will be activated about an hour after claiming your account.
- Sign up for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) through Duo Mobile
Go to https://amp.cpcc.edu
Enter your CP username and password, click on the drop-down menu labeled "Select Domain," select "Student", then click "Login."
A window titled "Protect Your Central Piedmont Account" will appear. Click on "Start setup."
Select "Mobile phone" and click "Continue."
Enter your phone number and check the box to confirm the phone number is correct. Select "Continue."
Select the type of smartphone you are using and click "Continue."
Download the Duo Mobile application from your phone's app store. Once you have downloaded the app, select "I have Duo Mobile installed."
Open the Duo Mobile app on your phone, select "Continue", then "Use QR code," and scan the QR code shown on your computer screen. Select "Save" on the "Name your account" screen. If you prefer to receive an activation link via email instead of scanning the QR code, click on "Email me an activation link instead."
On the next screen (My Settings & Devices), change the option for "When I log in: " to "Automatically send this device a Duo Push". Select "Save".
You have successfully enrolled in Duo multi-factor authentication!

Common Issues:
I can't download the Duo app on my phone / I don't have a cell phone - what do I do?
Duo recommends upgrading to the most recent version of Android and iOS available for your device if possible. If not possible, or if you don't have access to a phone, you can go to the ITS Service Desk to request a Duo Token that will allow you into your accounts without a phone.
I already downloaded the app but I didn't activate the account, how do I activate the account?
If you have already enrolled and downloaded the app but found that you did not add the Central Piedmont account, please reach out to the ITS Service Desk at 704 330 5000 or submit a ticket stating that you need to activate the duo account.
