Check MyCollege before the first day of the semester. If a class is listed in your MyCollege, you are enrolled in it and will be expected to attend. If you do not attend it could result in a failing grade on your high school and college transcript. See Mrs. DeAntonio if you feel like there are errors in your college schedule or you think you need to drop a class.
Make sure you know where each class meets and at what times. Check the Campus Map if you need it.
Each college class will provide a syllabus on day one. Read it in it's entirety. It will outline grading policy, attendance expectations, pacing of the class, learning objectives, and important deadlines. It is your responsibility to follow any procedures, timelines, and expectations that are in the syllabus, even if they are not verbally gone over by the professor. Put any important dates in your calendar or planner to make sure you meet expectations.
As a federal and state requirement, students must attend during the first 10% census period of the class. Students enrolled in an online, hybrid, or blended course must submit the EVA (Enrollment Verification Activity) on or before the 10% census date. Important: Failure to attend (or submit the EVA) on or before the 10% date of the course will result in automatic withdrawal without refund, and you will not be permitted to continue in the course. Policy 3.09 Attendance prohibits a registered student from entering (attending for the first time) after the 10% date. An academic program dean may make an exception only in the case of a college error.
Each syllabus will have instructions on where and how to complete the EVA for the class, as well as the deadline.
You should get in the habit of checking your CPCC email daily. The is the official method of communication used by CPCC instructors, so any important announcements, updates, etc will come through your email.
While you're at it, make sure you're checking your CMS email daily as well!
Each instructor will have office hours, either in person or virtual (hint: they will be posted in teh syllabus). Take advantage of these for some one on one help if you need it.
The Academic Learning Center is the tutoring and support center on campus and you can get FREE tutoring for any of your college courses multiple times a week. Visit their website for more information.
