GPA & Grading

Each final grade you receive in a high school or dually enrolled CP class earns points based on the numerical grade earned.  Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is the average of those points.

CPCC Courses - In general, the transferable courses (those included in the Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Fine Arts, and Associate in Engineering) that are 3 credit hours or more, will earn one weighted quality point (similar to an AP course).

The majority of courses for the Associate in Applied Science degrees will be standard (unweighted) courses

Things to Remember:

Promotion Standards:

Per CMS Board Policy, students must meet the following requirements to be promoted to the next grade:

9th to 10th: Students must earn six credits

10th to 11: Students must earn 12 cumulative credits, which must include English I, English II, and Math 1

11th to 12th: Students must earn 18 cumulative credits

*note: high school credits earned in middle school do meet graduation requirements. They do NOT count for high school promotion or impact GPA.

To determine unweighted GPA: Divide the total unweighted quality points earned by total earned credits.

To determine unweighted GPA: Divide the total weighted quality points earned by total earned credits.
