We played various versions of the Five in a Row game to review multiplication facts as we prepare for our new unit on Multiplication and Division. Try one out at home! I have game boards available for your child to take home, or you can print one from here.

We are working hard on our narrative pieces. Students have created big plans by making notes about their characters, setting, problem, solution, and message of their stories on large sheets of paper. Then, they drafted story arcs to plan the scenes of their stories. After having a writing conference to talk through their plans, writers began drafting on their yellow notepads. Writing is a favorite time for many of us in 4C!

As writers began to draft, they were challenged to try out several different leads in order to hook the reader. Ask your fourth grader which lead they chose and why.
