We are working hard on our personal essays. We wrote strong thesis statements and then decided on our three best reasons. After collecting mini-stories, facts, and other support for our first reason, we drafted on our yellow pads. Then, we met with writing partners to make our paragraphs even stronger.

We are currently in our unit on Missouri History. We have been learning about all the people who have lived in this area throughout history. First we learned about the Clovis people who were here about 10,000 years ago. More recently, there were Mound Builders, starting with the Hopewell and Adena and then progressing to the impressive Mississippian Culture who had a remarkable city of over 20,000 inhabitants just east of St. Louis in Cahokia.
