FAQ's

Will being a rep take up lots of my time?

As a student, your first priority should always be your course and your coursework and Student Voice is quite flexible around the availability of our Reps. We only formally require your time for each termly Student Conference and then in the time that you put in to collect, log and relay feedback from your Course. This might only require 15 minutes during tutorial sessions or a monthly check in during a Course Rep Drop-in session to share the feedback with the Student Voice team. Any additional time contributed is a brilliant bonus and is rewarded with treats, prize draws, compensation for help with events and also in the experience you gain.

Are there any benefits to being a course rep?

Yes, there are many. Not only will you have a huge impact on the experience for every student who attends our college, you will also develop vital skills which are transferrable to every role you may take on in your professional life such as communicative, leadership, analytical skills, as well as core qualities such as reliability, determination and confidence.

This skill base and experience will greatly enhance your CV and UCAS applications/personal statements and can make the difference in gaining a course/job offer.

Student Experience will organise events exclusively for Reps, including tailored training sessions and social/enrichment activities. We also provide free treats at our events!

Can I get in trouble if I bring up complaints to staff?

Not at all! Any feedback shared is appreciated. Student Voice is important to our college ethos and community and is viewed as constructive feedback. For any feedback which is more sensitive, is about a particular incident or involves particular members of staff/students, this can be communicated discreetly through the following channels:

Speaking directly to our Student Voice team based in the Students' Union, either during a Course Rep Drop-in session or at any time within college hours

Contacting Student Voice via - studentvoice@cityplym.ac.uk or 01752 856829

The Student Voice team can then raise this complaint anonymously on your behalf

Alternatively you can raise a complaint by:

Submitting a Talkback form - found online through Student Central or physical copies available from Main Reception, Admin Hub and the SU. These must be handed in to the Admin Hub who's Talkback team will process the complaint for resolution.
