The Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (the Act) and the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Regulation 2011 require regulated organisations to develop and implement a child and youth risk management strategy which aims to keep children and young people safe.
To comply with the legislative framework, Citipointe has created a Child and Youth Risk Management Strategy to include and address the eight minimum requirements.
These requirements:
address an organisation’s commitment to creating a safe and supportive service environment;
strengthen an organisation’s capability to provide such an environment;
assist an organisation to manage any particular concerns with respect to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people who are involved with the organisation, and;
promote the consistency of an organisation’s approach to risk management, both within the organisation and with respect to compliance with the requirements under the Act.
Citipointe has a comprehensive Child Protection Policy which protects our children.
This statement is found at every Kids and Youth check in area. It's our commitment to the parents and guardians of the kids we are serving.
There's a lot that has to go on in the background to keep our kids safe and Citipointe on top of it's obligations. Citipointe has a strong Child and Youth Risk Management Strategy - a requirement by the Qld Government which is outworked by the Blue Card Services. This Strategy is where everything in this site comes from. It is reviewed annually.
The Child Protection Contact Officer is the paid Department Head of Kids and Youth Programs and also the Location Pastor.
As per the Citipointe Child Protection Policy, a Child Protection Contact Officer is responsible for:

Ensuring the safety of the children in their care.

Ensuring that, where age and time and place are appropriate, staff and volunteers will engage with children to ensure they understand how to keep themselves safe and what to do if they feel unsafe.
Ensuring all adults working with children in their programs hold a current blue card that is linked to the Citipointe organisation. This includes teachers and police officers who are required to hold a Blue Card exemption card.
Actioning the renewal of blue cards for all adults working with children in their programs to ensure continued currency of their blue card status.
