The Safe Church concept refers to Citipointe operating as a God-honouring, life-giving and harm-free ministry. As churches, our motivation for ‘being safe’ must be more than a risk management exercise or legal responsibility. Safe Church is a biblical imperative, the outworking of what James 1:27 calls true religion - caring for the vulnerable (widows and orphans), and an expression of Micah 6:8 “to seek justice, love mercy and walk humbly before our God”. Establishing and maintaining Safe Church programs fulfils our biblical, ethical, risk management, and organisational responsibilities. Safe Church requires an ongoing commitment from the senior church leadership and gifted administrators working alongside pastors and ministry teams to keep safety on the agenda.
In Australia, churches are required to abide by the laws surrounding Work Health and Safety (WHS), child and elder abuse, concealment of crime, reporting concerns of child well- being and Working with Children Checks.
