The College of Computer Studies conducted the Curriculum Review with the Industry Partners, Students, Alumni, Parents, Academe Partners, and Faculty on August 4, 2022 to present the new curriculum of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology through Zoom Virtual Meeting.
The Program Chairpersons presented the VMGO awareness, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Curriculum and Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Curriculum. In line with this, the industry partners, Academe Partners, Students, Alumni, and Parents gave their feedback on the curriculum presented. Suggestions and comments were highly appreciated during this event as they will help improve the curriculum in the future.
The faculty was strongly encouraged to take part in this event in order to learn more about IT Trends and Innovation and to keep up with global changes in technology.
Letter of Invitation and Programme were provided to the stakeholders for the Curriculum Review.
Academic institutions are responsible for developing graduates' competence that matches the needs of the industry and is responsive to present and future challenges. A critical component of competence is the skills that must be provided in and out of the schools. On this note, on-the-job training becomes necessary to complement classroom instruction.
The on-the-job training (OJT) program is required under the CMO 25 Series of 2015. Revised Policies, Standards, and Guidelines for BS in Computer Science, BS in Information Systems, and BS in Information Technology. This provides students the chance and opportunity to apply the skills, knowledge and attitudes learned in college and, at the same time, to experience the corporate environment.
These training programs expose the students to work realities that will ideally hone their skills and prepare them once they get out of the university or college. A study conducted by the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) in 2006 emphasized the importance of an effective on-the-job training program. Achievement of the OJT program objectives ensures the possibility of good-performing graduates. The opposite will most likely produce poor performer graduates, thus, promoting job-skill mismatch. Hence, on-the-job training programs, vital as it is, should be dynamic and skill-centered for the students to effectively grasp practical learning in the workplace.

This work procedure is to establish the process of review, revision, and endorsement of the curriculum. The Dean together with the Program Chairperson ensures that the current curriculum is in consonance with the requirements of the Policies, Standards and Guidelines of the program.
This work procedure is to establish the process of review and revision of the course syllabi constructed by the faculty of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. The Dean together with the Program Chairperson ensures that the course syllabi will undergo the review process with internal panels to improve and to make sure that it follows the guidelines of the CIMD.
The College of Computer Studies conducted a CCS Forum & Syllabi Review and Revision on August 18, 2021, to orient the faculty about the Review Process and composition of the committee for the review of the course syllabi. This was presented by the CIMD Director Dr. Liezl May Tortogo.
The Program Chairperson prepared the letter and scheduled the review. The Course Syllabi review was conducted in a virtual setting.
After the course syllabi review, the CRRS committee submitted the evaluation and suggestions form for improvement and was given to the faculty to revise their course syllabi. Faculty Attendance is strictly monitored using google forms.
The review of instructional materials was conducted by the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology faculty who handles IT courses. The committee was composed of the proponent, two (2) internal panels, one (1) external panel, the CIMD chair, and the Program Chairperson.
At first, the proponent will present their course module to the committee. The course module should meet the standards of the CIMD guidelines. During the review, that panel committee will provide suggestions and comments for the improvement of the course module. They will be provided with an evaluation and suggestions form which the proponent should use for the revision of the course module.
Phases 1 and 2 are required for the Review of the Instructional Materials. The proponent will present the revised course module to the panel committee for the Phase 2 level. If all required recommendations were met, then the proponent will be eligible for the production of the course module.
The Program Chairperson should assess the faculty's performance each semester. During the classroom observation, the instructor should provide all the relevant data.
The teacher will demonstrate their subject matter during the classroom observation. The faculty will then be evaluated by the program chairperson using the standards specified by the university.
If anything needs to be improved, the program chairperson will discuss it with the faculty after the classroom observation.
Classroom Observation Evaluation Forms are used in rating the faculty in their performance according to Lesson, Content, Teaching Methods, Classroom Management, and Questioning Skills.
A capstone project was presented by Fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology students. In order to graduate from the program, it is one of their requirements. In their capstone project, they participate in a number of activities, including title defense, pre-oral defense, and final defense.
Consequently, during the final defense, a committee of internal and external panelists was invited. The panels reviewed and assessed the applicants' demonstration of their final system and supplementary documentation.
The subject adviser for the Capstone Project created a letter for the conduct of the Oral defense of the students. This was submitted to the Dean and Executive Director for approval.
During the Capstone defense, the students should demonstrate their system and documentation for the assessment of the panel committee.
The panel committee will deliberate on the student's Capstone Project and decide whether they will be passed, failed, or re-defense.
Each semester, students completed the teachers' evaluation. Students will rate their subject teachers using the institutional evaluation form as a baseline. Commitment, Knowledge, Teaching for Independent Learning, Learning Management, and Professionalism are among the evaluation criteria.
The ratings will be distributed to the faculty after the evaluation of the students has been completed so that they are aware of their ratings as well as the comments and suggestions of the students. This faculty evaluation helps the faculty develop their teaching skills, classroom management, and professionalism.
