Art

Welcome to Art!

We are excited to help you explore your creative side and practice the skills that are the building blocks for all good artists! Enjoy, explore and most importantly have fun!

Send us pictures of your creations, we would love to feature some of them here!

Week 2: TEKS K1.A,B identify the elements of art, including line, shape, color, texture, and form, and the principles of design, including repetition/pattern and balance, in the environment.

I can create the colors and shapes I see.

1) Watch this animated video of the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, or if you have it, read it aloud, or have someone in your house read it to you.

2) Draw your favorite letters climbing the coconut tree!

You’ll need: Something to write with and to draw on.

REMEMBER this can look however you want! Don’t want it to be a coconut tree? Draw an apple tree or cherry tree! Draw numbers instead of letters if you want! BE CREATIVE!!

3) Send us a picture of what you drew!

Think about the colors used in the book:

1) Were they bright or dark?

2) Which letters were your favorite?

Week 3: TEKS K.2.C Develop manipulative skills when drawing

I can see and color patterns.

  1. Introduction: We all love to scribble! Today we are going to take a scribble and create some modern art! You will need:

    1. Paper

    2. Colors (markers, crayons, pencils, whatever you have)

  2. Grab your sheet of paper, and a dark colored marker. Go ahead and scribble 10-15 lines or swirls on your paper. It's ok if the lines overlap, you want them to cover the whole page.

  3. Once you have your scribbles, find a new color and see if you can find shapes in your scribbles. If you see a shape color it in! A few hints:

    1. Don’t use the same color for two shapes that touch - each shape should have all the other colors around it.

    2. Use colors that you think will look pretty next to each other

  4. Send us a picture of what you drew!

Week 4: TEKS K.1A: Glean information about the environment using the 5 senses.

I can create a man out of leaves while looking at how our bodies are shaped.

Create a leaf man!

As you look for leaves, think about what each body part looks like. Search for shapes that look like arms, legs, head, etc. Enjoy, and remember to email us a picture when you have finished!

Week 5: TEKS K.2B: Arrange forms intuitively to create artworks.

I can visualize how things fit together.
