Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Training
About the Course
In Spring 2020, a coalition of faculty and staff developed a new Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) online course that introduced key, foundational knowledge relevant to DEI in the classroom and beyond. This course can be completed online and on your own timeframe, and can be explored in as much depth as you and your Dean feel is necessary.
The creation of this course would not have been possible without years of activism from Students and Employees of Color, Queer and Trans Students and Employees, and Female Students and Employees (particularly in academic departments in which they are marginalized or in a distinct numerical minority, a regular experience for People of Color and Queer and Trans people across the college). The course came into being following multiple resolutions and calls to action from the Faculty Senate. While the need for both urgent action and long-term reimaging to address racism and other systemic biases remains, our commitment to learning and mobilizing is clear.
