Community Supported Agriculture, or CSA's, are crop sharing systems that allow farmers to directly engage with the consumers of their product.
The opportunity to build connections within the community.
Support for local farmers and organizations.
Fresh food products
The close relationship between farmer and consumer promote sustainability because it reduces the carbon footprint produced in shipping and supply chains. Also, CSA's tend to be smaller farms, so large-scale farming practices that hurt the environment aren't used. In terms of ethics, the consumer knows exactly where, when, and how their food was produced, so if they don't feel like something is ethical, they don't have to support the farmer. No grey areas or middle-men.
