Molly Schneider “That is good Mary ooo”
18x24" Acrylic, 2018
The style of the realism that is in my style. I really liked the way the sketch had turned out in my style of drawing and I didn’t want to change it to make it look more realistic. The inspiration was a photo taken of my very close friend Jordyn and me in the production of Jesus Christ Superstar. I love the photo and drew it because it was one of the most fun and most memorable shows i've done. When seeing it, the audience will just see it as two friends but to me it is much more meaningful. If I could start over I would want to be wiser mixing colors and over or underestimating how much paint i’d need. I love how Jordyn and I pop out of the background and I think I did a really good job recreating the original photo.
Molly Schneider "Joan of Arc"
18x24" Acrylic, 2018
I was looking through my drawings that I could turn into a painting and I found my sketch of Joan of Arc. I didn’t really have any symbolism in the painting but I do think that Joan was a really amazing person and should be recognized more. I would redo her skin again and maybe add jewelry. I really love the hair, the sword and her hands.
Molly Schneider "I'd Give My Life For You"
12x18", Acrylic, 2018
My Inspiration was when my dad and I went to see Les Miserables together and on the drive to the theater, we listened to his favorite show Miss Saigon. It was amazing and that trip really bonded us more. For Christmas, I came up with this idea to give him a painting. I painted this scene from Miss Saigon when Kim sings about how she wants a better life for her son and that she would give her life for him to have a better life than she did, hence the title. I really love the detail and how you can see the emotion.
