Molly Schneider "Red Panda in Nature"
12x18," Colored Pencil & Graphite, 2018
My idea was to start on an Animal and I wanted to do my favorite animal, the red panda. It's my favorite because of how unique and interesting the Red Panda is. I made multiple sketches to decide what position I wanted the Panda to be in. I decided on the final position because of how up close and personal it is. Once the final drawing was done, I experimented on what colors would look most realistic. I also practiced the technique to get a realistic looking fur texture. If I could change the drawing, I would move the Red Panda a little to the left so it was perfectly center. I really like the way the fur looks. I think I nailed the texture and colors.
Molly Schneider "Lady of the Underground"
12x18" Graphite, 2018
My Idea was to draw a portrait of a person and I kind of wanted to draw a character from mythology. I decided on Persephone because of how interesting her character is and how fun it would be to show that on paper. I made many sketches and research for this drawing. I had to research inspiration for the dress and how to draw a pomegranate. Once I had a concrete idea, I jumped into the project to see where it would take me. If I could change it, I would go back and fix up the proportions. I realized later on the the head was not equal to the body. I really love the design of the dress. It starts with a group of flowers and trails down to the bareness of winter and then into underground.
Molly Schneider "Home Away From Home"
9x12" Graphite, 2018
I was looking through my photo gallery to find inspiration for my next drawing and I found this photo and decided to draw it. It is an angled picture of my Theater. The show showing is "Jesus Christ Superstar", one of my favorite shows i've ever done. It means a lot to me because i've found a second home and family in that building. Kids from different schools and different life stories come together to tell a story. If I could change this I would try to be more precise with the structure of the building.
Molly Schneider "Few of my Favorite Things"
9x12, Ink and Paper Print, 2018
My idea was to put together my favorite things on my desk that I think portrays my personality and life. The two books are "The Phantom Of The Opera" and "Les Miserables" they are two shows that my Dad introduced to me and they mean a lot to me. Leaning against the book is a French Cockade which is what the Revolutionaries wore in 1700's France. I put it in to show my love of history and Les Mis. I put in a ticket from one of my most recent shows and a Plant and Rainbow to show joy and fun. I would redo the printing to make it look better and sharper.
