Final Challange
I really enjoyed this semester; I really felt that I will be able to take advantage of the content and tools that were presented during the classes. I usually do my presentations using Power Point, but after this semester I intend to add new tools to my repertoire like Canvas, Bubbl.us, Grammarly, etc...
Reading “Digital literacy across the curriculum”, Futurelab's handbook, was very good to put into perspective how important digital literacy is at all levels of an institution. How much it is necessary to teach not only students, but also teachers and school staff, with the intention not only to expand the institution's reach but to provide more tools to use in teaching. If everyone in the environment is aware of what technology can or cannot do, its pros and cons, the communication between those involved and the functionality of the school will be positively affected, making the operation more effective.
I got used to online classes, I even prefer this format, of course the lack of socialization and being able to meet colleagues and teachers is necessary, but spending almost 1 hour on a bus to go to university and another to go home, It's not something I miss doing. One thing that gave me a lot of difficulty with the change was keeping the mindset of being in the classroom while I was in my leisure and rest environment, but now I've gotten used to it and learned how to get by.
The activity I liked the most was the apps, it was a good reason to get out of my comfort zone and it had good results, it was interesting to get to know and learn to use new programs and think about what situations and content these tools would be useful for. I didn't really like doing the most recent spread sheet activity, using the apps again, I found it repetitive considering the presentations of the programs should have already covered the necessary information.
I'd love to put all the new tools I've acquired into practice in the classroom, but after the tough internship semester I've had I have to say that applying something in the classroom just because you found it interesting isn't always a good idea, first of all you need to take into account things like: will the class be able to access the app, if the students have the necessary level of digital literacy to use the app without problem, and the content being taught can be adapted to the programthat you are introducing. Just going through these categories would lead me to apply the app in the classroom.
I would like to be rated at least 8.0, because I did all the activities that were requested and I was a good team member and put a lot of effort in all the activities that were done during the semester. I know I need to improve in some ways but I'm happy with all the work I've done for this semester.
