Hey folks! My name is Stephanie and here are some things you may want to know about me:
I'm 19 and since I was a kid I talked about being a teacher and now I'm here in the second semester of Letras Inglês and being part of Pibid too!
My favorite things include chilling with my friends, going to parties and watch a lot of movies. Yeah, I'm that superficial haha.
My final challenge
To start my final challenge I would like to say that I don't know why I chose English to study, I just felt it was something that works with me and gives me the possibility to see the world in a different way - in another language and I want to provide the same to my students.
I must confess that in this semester things got a little bit complicated to me and I didn't give my best but, I hope in the next semester I can do more. I know that I wasn't present in most part of the classes but I got a job in a bilingual school and that takes a lot of my time but for goodness sake I could absorb a lot by reading the contents and by working in groups.
My second confession its that I don't like to learn so much about things that involve softwares or technological programs but in this discipline I had the opportunity to see things in another way, and I could learn a lot of digital tools that certainly will help both me and my students in the future. I could see that nowadays education is highly linked to digital world!
In this semester, the reading I most liked was the first one: "Digital Literacy" by Gavin Dudeney, Nicky Hockly and Mark Pegrum. It's was a complete reading experience for me because the book was very didactic and full of relevant things like the impact of digital literacy in classroom and the importance to know how to manage this. Considering the role I will assume as a future teacher, it is extremely important that I can guide my students and help them through the understanding of new digital tools and also introduce them to multimodality in a practical way.
About my academic life, at first, I felt a little difficulty in seeing myself as a university student, since, due to the pandemic scenario, I could never actually set foot in college, see my colleagues or professors in person. For a long time, and despite loving the course , I thought about locking it up and maybe returning when the face to face course came back. I felt discouraged in the first few weeks. Today I see things in a different perspective, taking classes online has allowed me to better manage my time and solve my tasks. I feel much more motivated and mature to face the challenges we live in this current reality, so now it's not a problem anymore, it's become a part of my routine.
Surely most part of the coontent learned in this discipline will be of great use in my professional life! I kept most of the readings in folders and I have personal notes of some of the tools and issues raised in the classroom. It is undeniable that today we live in a connected world, so as an education professional I must keep in mind that I need to keep myself updated not nly for my own good but also to preserve and provide the quality of education I want to pass on to my students.
Finally, I think I would give myself a 7 because I really admit that I was not the best student in this semester and I could have tried to be more present, however, I did my best in the works and I tried a lot to exchange experiences and aknowlegment with my colleagues, which helped me a lot, but far is far and I'mjust trying to be honest here.
This was all.
