Hi guys, hi Suzi. I am Adeline Rocha, but you can also call me Ade. I am 19, female and from Uruguaiana - Rio Grande do Sul, but living in São José - Santa Catarina nowadays. My pronouns are she/her.
I am an extrovert person and very talkative, I really like kids, handmade presents and the ocean (as you can tell by the smile on my face.
When I was younger, I was diagnosed with ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), so I felt very scared. And, an year later I was doing a lot of courses so I could do something and feel better about myself. That's when I started my English course and found MY thing, I was really good at and also I loved to be around.
... While growing up, I heard a lot about how UFSM was a great university and I wanted to be there so much and my second motivation was to made my grandparents proud. I spent years wanting this and now I'm here and I'm very grateful to be a part of it. I also work as an English instructor in a school in Florianópolis.
In the beginning of semester I was kind of lost and a little sad because things were a little hard with technology with me (all of my devices decided to break). So my expectations were kind of low but everything turned out ok at the end. I am a little tired at the moment but very grateful because I learned a lot and now I know I can count on a lot of colleagues (or friends, if they allow) that helped me when I was confused. Now I feel much more confident that I will be a great professional because of everything that I went through without giving up.
I had never heard about digital literacy and technology fluency before this class so everything was brand new. I read the first obligatory reading that was written by Gavin Dudeney, Nicky Hockly and Mark Pegrum that gave me a lot of help and I could understand everything in a very easy way. I could understand properly what a software and a hardware is. But the expression I liked the most was “E-safety” because this part showed some rules about how to use the internet and keep your students safe and this was very important to me and now I use it a lot while working and for the new steps I will do in colleague I suppose this will be very important.
My opinion is that this subject was the hardest of this semester, but I got a few chances to interact with the online classes, I used to watch the classes at work so I couldn’t talk a lot, but I heard (and learned) a lot of things listening to the teacher and the classmates and now I know I will be a better professional because of you all.
My favorite activity was the first presentation. I worked a lot on this one and put in a lot of effort and my classmates gave very good feedback about me and it made me feel so good. I didn’t like the gamification, I couldn’t understand so much and I felt very lost sometimes. But there is no content that I expected that was not discussed, the discipline was very full of info and we discussed all the things I expected and more.
Again, I will use “E-safety” a lot in my professional life. And will always make an effort to use the apps we talked about in the second presentations because this was very important and will be much more in the future because the next generations will be very technological and the education has to evolve with them.
About my grades...
I would like to have perfect grades in all the activities, but I know this is kind of impossible. But I think I deserve to pass this subject because every activity I propose myself to do, I did with a lot of whim and I put a lot of effort to give the best I could do (that is definitely not too much, but I guess it can be good enough)
That's all, folks! :)
