Hello my name is Luís Eduardo, I started college recently, currently finishing the second semester, but when I started I already had experience with English, I had already left the country in an Exchange program and ended up practicing my English a lot, it helped me a lot in the first semestre. In my spare time I like to watch videos in English about games, news, documentaries and obviously listen to music in other languages anywhere, whether in the bakery, gym or just a walk to school.
My expectation about the second semester was that it would deepen what was introduced in the first semester, however I feel that many new concepts have been introduced in recent months that help us to have a more critical look at teaching, my old me would never arrive at these concepts by itself. Every class I attend I see my vocabulary increase, sometimes it's a bit difficult, some classes like “anglófonas” reading classic texts have several words that are unknown to me, but that doesn't stop me from performing projects and improving my speech while reading “anglófonas” content.
During the digital literature class we covered several texts, but the one I would like to highlight would be "Digital literacy across the curriculum" that introduced me to the possibilities that literature and language in the digital world, within the concepts presented in it, I feel that my understanding and my view of online texts has greatly improved, both personally and as a future educator, not to mention the numerous sites that I have been presented that demonstrate ways to create interactions using technology.
The classes being online has changed a lot the way of studying, studying through the computer is more comfortable and easy to access, but at the same time it is evident how a computer does not replace the actual contact. Personally I prefer a classroom class, because I find it easier to concentrate, but the online experience is not bad either, the practicality it provides is impressive, I would have loved all my high school subjects to have an online platform like "moodle". One of my favorite activities was to create a presentation about an app that could be used in the classroom, it's great to get together for work in the comfort of home. My least favorite activities were related to Latin translation, however this is because the Latin language is quite difficult and complex, so I find Latin matter less attractive than other subjects. I am loving the university, at first I was in doubt whether English was what I wanted, but after six months, now I am sure. The only thing I would like to have more would be oral activities in English so that our oratory improves even more.
The possibilities of applying new approaches in class to create engagement with students, to change the classroom environment are things That I will bring to my career. When there is a change in the teaching method is evident the positive impact on the student, the routine becomes less tiring and uninteresting, I know this because I was once a student.
About my performance as a student I think I did well, I managed to absorb the content and do all the tasks, obviously I also made some mistakes, and I had trouble performing some homeworks and using some apps, but overall I would say that I was a good student, although I could improve on the responsibility factor.
