Hello guys, I'm Diéssica…..but who is Diéssica? Well, I live in Santa Maria and I'm 22 years old. I'm passionate about many things, like Harry Potter, tattoos, cats, trying new foods and spending money (I'm pretty good at doing the last one hehe) .
If you ask why I decided to study English, I don't have a good answer, I'm sorry, but here's what I know: I'm in love with this course and this semester I could feel that I'm in the right direction.
This was another online semester, sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not, but I think it helped a lot to understand what digital literacy is, because we have to use moodle and other apps, and then we had the opportunity to take this course. At first I had no idea what this subject was about and I was kinda nervous, but I fell in love after a few classes and I fell in love a lot, so much so that I started working at LabEON. Now I can say that I'm really into this world and I understand your love for teaching multiliteracy, Suzi.
‘Reading is an unnatural act; we are no more evolved to read books than we are to use computers’, Clay Shirky
That's the point, we change and we have to adapt to this new world, where everything uses technology. So, bringing this to the world of education, I had the opportunity to get to know many apps and websites that I didn't know, for example Kahoot!, I'm in love with this app and I think about writing an article and starting research on how to bring it to Brazil.
I really enjoyed reading “Research and Resources for Digital Literacy in Language Teaching” by Gavin Dudeney, Nicky Hockly and Mark Pegrum. I think after reading this book, I really became interested in learning as much as I could. It's a great way to introduce and spark interest in digital literacy. The book contains methodological suggestions that I can use in many ways.
Finally, I would give myself a 9, because I did my best to do the activities, but I could be more participatory in online classes, I'm actually kinda shy. I'm very happy to see my progress and also to continue working with all these technologies at LabEON. My last words (drama) is that I want things to get back to normal and hope to see you all at UFSM.
