District assessments are a key component of Campbell County School District's Balanced Assessment System and are designed to provide meaningful, standards-aligned data that supports teaching and learning across classrooms, schools, and the district. These assessments are intentionally embedded within the instructional cycle and are not isolated events; rather, they work in conjunction with classroom assessments, team-level common assessments, and state measures to give a comprehensive picture of student learning.
District Student Performance Assessments (DSPAs) are administered to measure student progress toward prioritized standards and essential learning outcomes. These performance-based assessments emphasize critical thinking, reading, writing, and application of skills, ensuring alignment with district curriculum, proficiency scales, and instructional expectations. Results from district assessments are used within Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to reflect on instructional practices, identify strengths and gaps in student learning, and collaboratively plan targeted responses.
District assessments also support vertical alignment and consistency across grade levels and courses, helping ensure that all students have access to rigorous, standards-based instruction. When used alongside classroom assessments, CFAs, diagnostic tools, and progress monitoring, district assessments play a vital role in informing instructional decisions, interventions, and extensions to support all learners within CCSD’s balanced and responsive assessment framework.
