CCSD Secondary Language Arts Collective Commitments
In all ELA courses, students will become analytical readers, writers, and speakers who support thinking with evidence found in texts and personal connections. They will be provided scaffolding and support to increase depth of understanding and stamina. Students will:
Read various genres of increasingly complex grade-level texts to become engaged and independent readers.
Independently write in multiple modes for a variety of audiences, authentic/relevant purposes, and timeframes.
Ensure awareness, development, practice, and application of grammar and language usage.
Engage in various modes of academic discourse through a variety of structures and processes.
