Before the match begins, the 1st Referee is responsible for checking the court, equipment and players, controlling the warm-up and coin toss.
During the match, the 1st referee stands on a stand opposite the scorers and makes the calls on faults and scoring.
Once a decision has been made, no player or referee can argue the call.
The 1st referee can also issue sanctions and warnings to the players.
The 2nd referee stands at the post opposite the 1st referee. The second referee is responsible for assisting the first referee, but is also responsible for controlling the work of the scorers, authorising timeouts and substitutions, and supervising the players on the bench.
The scorers sit at a bench opposite the first referee and are responsible for registering the players, recording scores, time outs and substitutions.
The line judges stand at least 1m away from each corner of the court, and signal, using flags, if a ball is in, out or touched out on the line that they control.
