A hit is any contact of the ball by a player
The team can use a maximum of three hits to return the ball to their opponents. (A block does not count as a hit)
A player may not hit the ball twice in a row (A block does not count as a hit)
A player may not take support from a team mate or any structure/object in an attempt to play the ball
The ball may touch any part of the body (at U14 & U16 level, players may play the ball with any part of their body above the waist)
The ball must not be caught or thrown.
The ball may touch various parts of the body, provided that the contacts take place simultaneously.
Four Hits: A team hits the ball 4 times before returning it
Assisted Hit: a player takes support from a team mate or object
Catch: (aka scoop) The ball is caught or thrown
Double Contact: A player hits the ball twice in succession or the ball contacts various parts of the player’s body in succession
