Hello Kindergarten Families
We hope you find these lessons helpful and fun. Kindergartners need to be moving for at least 60 minutes a day. That may sound like a lot but kids don't have to move for 60 minutes in a row. You can spread activity throughout the day.
You can find all the Kindergarten PE lessons here. Mix and match and redo favorites.
Click here for a list of things you might have at home that can be used for PE.

Students will need:
A broom, a pool noodle, or a stick
Hockey "pucks" - sock balls, balled up paper, tennis balls, stuffed animals, bean bags, ...
Objects to make a goal - shoes, books, any kind of markers
Students grip the "hockey stick" with one hand towards the middle and one hand towards the top. Students can switch which hand is in the middle and top to see which way feels more natural. Usually the dominant hand is in the middle.
First, practice moving "pucks" from one point to another point.
Second, move "pucks" around obstacles.
Third, shoot "pucks" through a goal.
Fourth, try passing "pucks" back and fourth.
Bottle Flip Hockey Challenge - If your student likes to flip bottles and he or she is enjoying the hockey activity, try this challenge we found from another PE teacher.
Tabata training is a 4 minute workout where participants alternate between 20 seconds of exercise followed by a 10-second rest. We have fun with these fast paced workouts. You can choose 8 different movements on your own and use a timer or find a song on iTunes or Youtube meant for tabata. You can also follow along in one of these videos:

The goal for Kindergarteners is to recognize feelings and ways of expressing them.
This is one of the essential standards for NCDPI Healthful Living for Kindergarten.
This is a cute educational video that explains why feelings are normal and how you can develop coping skills that will help to become successful both personally and academically.

These are ideas to get you and your family moving.
Set a goal for how many of these can you do this month.
Learning how to tie a shoe gives students confidence, independence,
and more time to participate in PE and other activities.
Click here for five different shoe tying methods. The first way is the traditional way
and will work with the most laces and the most shoes.
Help your student chose the one that works best for them and then practice at least four times a day.
