CalPac requires all 2nd-11th grade students to complete a local assessment in reading and in math at the start and end of each school year. We use NWEA MAPs as our local assessment provider.
Results from the NWEA MAPs will be analyzed to support our academic intervention programs. K-8 students identified below grade level will join our MARS (Math and Reading Success) program for targeted small group intervention to fill in gaps. High School students will receive additional help through the Math Lab and study hall.
Local Assessments must be proctored by the teacher using the secure browser on the student's Chromebook. Additional training on how to use NWEA will be part of our start of year professional development for all teachers.
Students can not opt of local assessments. Students that fail to complete their assessments will require a conference with an administrator.
As a public school, CalPac is required to participate in all state testing as mandated by the CDE.
CAASPP testing is administered in the spring. Staff is required to travel to testing locations to support the administration of the CAASPP tests. More information is shared well in advance so staff can prepare.
In preparation for CAASPP testing, teachers should incorporate SMARTER BALANCED Assessment questions and strategies into their live sessions.
Depending on status and grade level, students will also participate in ELPAC Testing and the California Physical Fitness Test.
