We are a fully WASC accredited online independent study public charter school. We have been doing online learning long before distance learning was the cool new thing and we know how to do online learning right. We have been serving students across California since 2007, and currently operate in 15 counties authorized by Warner USD (San Diego), Acton Agua Dulce USD (Los Angeles), and Guerneville USD (Sonoma).
As a public charter school, we have to follow the same expectations, standards, and requirements from the CDE as a district school, but we have greater flexibility in the curriculum and structure. We participate in WASC, complete the same state tests, and accept all students so long as they reside in a county we are authorized to serve.
We have a diverse population of accelerated, college-bound, traditional, credit recovery, English Language Learners, and Special Education students, and we pride ourselves on being a flexible option for all types of learners and meeting their individual learning needs. As a teacher, you get the unique opportunity to serve students from all of our 15 counties. This means your impact spreads well beyond a single neighborhood or city.
CalPac’s mission is to support and encourage all students to relentlessly pursue their life goals by providing an accessible, inclusive, and personalized learning community.
We care about our students so incredibly much, and it shows. We dedicate time to them in our homeroom meetings, live sessions, counseling sessions, and all other interactions we have with them. They are not just a name on our screen, and we value them as individuals. It is our strong belief that caring about the entire student leads to successful students, not just in school but in life.
From this belief came our Core Values and motto: CalPac CARES! As teachers, we live and breathe this sentiment with all of our students and with each other. When students know you genuinely care about them they will rise to any expectation you set. Take the time to get to know your students, and invest in their lives. It is incredibly rewarding to be a mentor to these students and make a difference in their lives.
We ask that all teachers uphold not just our mission but our core values, and genuinely show students that this is a school that CARES!
Our goal is to graduate all students college and career ready. From kindergarten teacher to high school teacher, this is a shared goal that each grade level teacher contributes to. The end is in the messages and sentiments from the students as they walk across that stage.
How do you plan to best uphold CalPac’s mission, vision, and core values as a teacher?
What can I do in my lessons and student/parent meetings to make sure CalPac CARES shines through?
