I mean...if a Tech Artist can make moss appear on trees then they can make money appear too right? Right?! Maybe one day...
Here I tried to challenge myself and have this new material fit into the same environment I used to create my water material with (and have it still look good)!
I really wanted the textures to come out properly so I took some extra time in Sampler to ensure they had the right look and feel to them.

If you followed my last blog on the Icy Environment material you'll see I used the HeightLerp node to blend between elements there as well. So if it's not broken, don't try to fix it! I wanted to use the same technique but tackle a completely different subject matter this time around.
Now this time around I had an extra texture I wanted to add and really push the variations in elements. At first, every time I applied the moss the bare raw wood would show underneath with it. So I had to rearrange a few nodes in order to get the moss to just show up by itself when using the alpha mask / vertex color paint tool.
So because I had rearranged the nodes earlier...inevitably I needed to come back and rearrange the normals there. I say this because I forgot and was wondering why things seemed to look so strange at first. No problem though, all is good in the outback now.
Here is what everything should look like put together.
Having set out to meet a specific challenge, I think I was able to pull of having the textures (material) fit nicely within the environment again and more importantly, have it be functional!
