Learning From Failure and Disagreements
Learning From Failure and Disagreements
Like any program from other schools, our program at Bellflower high school isn’t perfect and we’ve faced many hardships that have led to mistakes. Fortunately our students and staff members persevered through it all and managed to do better than before. One example of a mistake within our program is when our paint dried, which made it hard for ASB members to make almost anything decorative for our school. The ironic thing about this situation is that the students that make up ASB were the cause of it, our mistake was failing to close the paint containers and we’ve often lost paint tops. This was a very big thing for us because as said before paint is the primary thing we use to make things from posters, to spirit sticks. Before the department of one of our advisors, Ms. Allen, she spoke to us about our mistake regarding the paint, explaining to us that paint isn’t easily replaceable and that we need to be more responsible. Since then I've personally noticed that not even just me, but other ASB students as well have made an extra effort to do better and take care of our paint, as well as our other supplies. We’ve taken the necessary steps to help make sure that this doesn’t happen again by cleaning up earlier, ensuring we’ll have more time to do it neat and correct. Adding this step into our cleaning regimen has helped preserve our supplies, and preserving our supplies will be very beneficial to our future change agents. Another mistake that our program has made and learned from was when we used chairs with metal legs for our homecoming rally, not knowing that the consequences would be great and lead to our gym floor being scratched. This mistake greatly upset our principal because waxing our gym floor, to make it look nice and shiny requires money and it isn’t cheap. Our ASB advisors talked to us about this mistake and it will be taken into consideration for the next time we plan any events in the gym. Apart from these 2 examples many more mistakes have been made but what's most important is that our program and the members within it are persistent and able to apply what we’ve learned from past
