Heart of Service
Heart of Service
Our program promotes a heart for service among the student body by being inclusive, thinking about others, and providing help. Our school is a safe space for students to feel supported, be involved, and have fun. For example, our school has fun Fridays where we play music and get students to have fun and jam out to the tunes. This goes on every Friday as one of our Asb Members will play the music. There are also other events that will show the reality that others may be facing. Fortunately, our Bellflower Bucs are able to participate in key events such as having motivational speakers and assemblies. We have had Keith Hawkins, a motivational speaker come to our school and connect with our Buccaneers. He shares his own story which touches other students' hearts. Not only this but we have also had a special assembly called breaking down the walls. This was an event that helped students make connections with one another and meet new people. This pushed them to take a step out of their comfort zone which caused them to learn other people's stories. The value of hearing other people's experiences demonstrates to others what struggles others may be facing, perhaps even those we least expect. That’s not the only event that helped students get to know each other and connect. There was an event called Breaking Down the Walls that was mainly to help students come out of their shell and talk to other students to get to know them better. While breaking down the walls went on, there were student leaders using bonding activities to help open up in each group. This helped to get the students to open up more and listen to what others may be going through. During the spring semester of our school year we help commemorate and honor our students in what we call a Renaissance rally. This rally has been dedicated to uplifting our students body and honoring achievements for things such as grades, for the honor roll students, sports achievements, and club achievements.
