A Courageous Moment Our Leadership Faced
A Courageous Moment Our Leadership Faced
The 2022-2023 school year began with many difficulties regarding our ASB advisors. Our previous advisor was no longer able to oversee the high school ASB program, which left us temporarily without an advisor. We were very worried, as this was a big change. We have had the same advisor for years, and we became very accustomed to her ways. Although we loved her, it was time for a change. So, we continued our work. While we were preparing for the upcoming school year, we were notified that our new advisor would be a well known high school teacher on our campus. While shocked, we embraced him with open arms. We were excited to start our new journey with him and see what new ideas he would bring for our organization. But just as we started to get to know each other and form a relationship, we were told once again that we lost an advisor. Instead of being the activities director, he became Vice Principal of Activities, and we were left in the dust without an advisor. We felt lost, but we persevered and kept going. We continued planning our future events and hoped for the best. After a few weeks, we were finally given a new advisor. Mrs. Hovis was the class of 2027 club advisor for 2 years and is currently a history teacher. She happily took us under her wing. Despite our apprehension, she quickly became an amazing advisor. Through our difficulties, we learned to not be dependent on a certain person, as changes can happen instantly and without notice. As a group, we formed closer relationships and came out stronger than ever from this situation. This is one of the most difficult situations that our ASB has had to go through, but we stuck together and came out successful.
