Get ready for an era of reform, global ambition, and unprecedented crisis. As the United States entered the twentieth century, it didnβt just look inwardβit stepped onto the world stage, expanded its influence, and wrestled with the consequences of rapid change at home and abroad.
In this period, youβll examine how Progressive reformers sought to address the social and economic problems of industrial capitalism; how imperialism and World War I reshaped Americaβs role in global affairs; and how economic instability culminated in the Great Depression, prompting dramatic expansions of federal power under the New Deal and World War II. The nation emerged more powerful, more involved in the worldβand fundamentally redefined by the challenges it faced.
