Public Forum debate, or “PF”, is a two-on-two format designed to make debate accessible and engaging for all students. Centered on current events and real-world controversies, PF teaches debaters to build clear cases, use evidence effectively, and respond to opponents with quick thinking.
Rounds emphasize persuasive communication for a “citizen judge”, making the activity approachable while still rigorous.
With its focus on teamwork, strategy, and speaking for a public audience, Public Forum is the perfect format for students who want to sharpen their argumentation skills while tackling the most pressing issues of today.
Debaters will examine whether the United Kingdom should rejoin the European Union. The topic raises key questions about economics, sovereignty, global influence, and the everyday impact of Brexit. Students will argue both sides: that rejoining would restore trade, strengthen alliances, and boost the economy, or that staying out protects independence, saves money, and allows Britain to chart its own course.
