Welcome to the Pastoral section of the Middle Phase transition site.
One of the key aims of Middle Phase is to ensure students feel happy, supported, and confident as they move through this important stage of their school journey. We know that students learn best when they feel safe, settled, and valued, and we place a strong emphasis on wellbeing, relationships, communication, and helping students develop confidence and independence during their time in Middle Phase.
Middle Phase acts as an important bridge between Junior Phase and Higher Phase. During this time, students gradually develop the routines, resilience, organisation, and personal responsibility needed for future success, while still receiving the support, encouragement, and guidance they need from the staff around them. Our aim is for every student to feel known, supported, and able to thrive both academically and personally throughout their time in Middle Phase.
Pastoral support within Middle Phase is led by Mrs Ema-Jayne Jones, Assistant Head Teacher (Pastoral), alongside Miss Amy Reynolds, Assistant Phase Coordinator, and our dedicated Year Leads:
Miss Chloe Mitchell, Year 6 Lead
Miss Safiya Saleh, Year 7 Lead
Mr Bradley Thomas, Year 8 Lead
Together, the pastoral team work closely with students, tutors, teachers, and families to support wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, routines, organisation, and student development across Middle Phase.
Within this section, you will find information about:
Wellbeing and pastoral support

Please see below a short video message from the Middle Phase pastoral team, who will introduce the pastoral side of Middle Phase in more detail and explain some of the key information families and students need to know ahead of the move into Middle Phase. This information is also included in the different sections within this page, found at the links below the video.
