The Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)/Google Classroom is an important part of learning in Middle Phase and is used regularly across all subject areas.
Students use the VLE/Google Classroom to:
Access lesson resources
View homework tasks
Submit work
Access revision materials
Complete quizzes and online activities
Review feedback from teachers
The VLE/Google Classroom helps students stay organised and supports the development of independent learning skills, which become increasingly important as students move through Middle Phase and into Higher Phase.
Alongside the VLE/Google Classroom, different subjects may also use additional online platforms and resources to support learning. Subject teachers will share information about these platforms during lessons and explain how students should access and use them within each subject area.
Students will receive support and guidance on how to use the VLE/Google Classroom and other online learning platforms effectively during the transition process and throughout the academic year.
The VLE/Google Classroom is designed to be used by students as part of their day to day learning, under the guidance and support of their class teachers. Throughout Middle Phase, students will gradually develop confidence and independence in using the platform to access resources, complete tasks, submit work, and engage with their learning across different subject areas. Teachers will support students in understanding how each subject uses the VLE/Google Classroom and help them develop the organisational and digital learning skills needed for success both within Middle Phase and beyond.
Further guidance and login information will be shared with students and parents during transition activities and at the start of the academic year.
