Homework is an important part of learning in Middle Phase and helps students develop organisation, independence, and good study habits.
To help students manage their workload successfully, homework follows a structured homework timetable. This ensures that students are not overloaded with homework on any one evening and are able to balance academic responsibilities alongside family time, wellbeing, rest, and extracurricular activities.
We strongly believe that opportunities beyond the classroom are an important part of student development. Students are encouraged to participate in clubs, sports, performances, competitions, leadership opportunities, and other enrichment activities throughout their time in Middle Phase.
Homework may include:
Practice and consolidation tasks
Reading
Research activities
Revision
Project work
Online learning activities
Students are expected to record homework carefully and manage deadlines independently. Parents can support by encouraging routines at home and helping students develop good organisational habits.
We understand that moving into Middle Phase can feel like a big change at first, particularly with different teachers setting work across the week. Staff work closely with students during the transition period to help them build confidence, establish routines, and develop the independence needed for success in Middle Phase and beyond.
Once the academic year begins, homework timetables for Middle Phase will be shared with students, and linked below on this page.
