In Middle Phase, students study a broad and balanced curriculum taught by specialist subject teachers. This allows students to experience a wider variety of teaching styles, subjects, and learning environments throughout the week.
At The British School of Kuwait, we follow the English National Curriculum. In Year 6, students complete the final year of Key Stage 2 before moving into Key Stage 3 during Years 7 and 8. This helps ensure a smooth transition into the structure and expectations of Higher Phase and future GCSE study.
Students will study:
English
Mathematics
Science
History
Geography
Computing
French
Social Studies
PSHE
Physical Education (PE)
Art
Drama
Music
Arabic
Islamic Studies (for Muslim students)
Second language Arabic speakers and non-Muslim students will have additional subject pathway choices available to them. Please see the Options section below for further information.
Lessons are designed to build strong subject knowledge, while also developing important skills such as communication, creativity, problem solving, collaboration, and independent thinking.
As students move through Middle Phase, there is a growing focus on preparing them for the expectations of Higher Phase, while still ensuring learning remains engaging, supportive, and age appropriate.
