Car races, city exploration and egg hunting: What we did this spring

(1 June 2023)

All of our scout groups have been incredibly busy this spring and besides our regular sessions, have enjoyed a number exciting activities out and about.

In February, the Scouts went on a city exploration hike through Brussels which was planned and organised by two of our older members as a final challenge and a parting gesture before they leave for the next stage in their scouting experience, the Explorers.

In March, scouts of all ages took part in the Pinewood Derby model car race. Building your own wooden racecar, kitting it out with bits and pieces for more downforce and stability or visual impact and then racing it against your peer (and, more often than not, their parents') creations has been an eagerly anticipated  tradition for scouts around the world. The 2023 Brussels & Waterloo Grand Prix  gathered more than 100 competitors from the CBS, 1st Brussels and Waterloo groups. We are particularly proud and would like to once again congratulate our award winners!

Later in March, we were happy to welcome all CBS scouts and parents for an Easter vibe-infused Annual General Meeting at our home base in the Parmentier Park. While the children went Easter egg-hunting, we were glad to share withsome updates and experiences from the past year, as well as our plans for the future. As parents and volunteers ourselves, we are especially grateful to everyone who participated and are looking forward to seeing you in our events and activities again!

The minutes of this year's AGM will be available soon.
