Yes teachers go to college.
Teachers like coffee. Chocolate is also accepted.
How long do you have to study?
At a minimum you have to have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in education which takes roughly 4 years. I took an extended route which lasted 5 ½ years.
Where are you a teacher?
I am a teacher at Reeds Spring High School in Reeds Spring, Missouri.
Who was your favorite teacher?
I had a few. Mr. Davis who was my psychology and sociology teacher, Mr. Rhoden who was my driver’s ed and American government teacher, and Mrs. Troxell who was my English teacher.
How old are you?
I am 35 years old.
Do you have to do a lot of work?
Yes I have to do a lot of work. Some of it is by choice though because I love my students and being a part of our schools culture.
Are you proud to be a teacher?
I am very proud to be a teacher. My grandfather was an educator as well and I have a great-great uncle who taught a one room school house.
Do you have to be a teacher?
I don’t have to be. But considering my student loan debt, I might as well do what I borrowed money to do.
Do you have to be pretty to be a teacher?
Obviously not.
Do you have to be strong to be a teacher?
Yes. Physically, emotionally, and mentally. Sometimes spiritually.
Do you have to be brave?
Yes.
Do you have to be good?
You should be good, because our job is very important.
Do you have to write a lot?
Sometimes you do, and it depends on what you teach. I read and talk more than I write.
Do you have to do a lot of math?
You do if you teach math.
How are you mean to students?
I don’t believe I am mean. But I am sarcastic, and that can come across as being mean.
How are you kind to kids?
I am kind because I care about my kids and who they are, not what grades they make. In order for real learning to take place, positive relationships are a must.
How can you be the best teacher?
First you must love working with kids and helping them learn and succeed. If you can do that you can learn how to do all of the other stuff. And you also get to know great students like Ms. Pozek and have her help edit your power points for freshman history classes.
