Do you get good money?
1. The money depends on if I'm teaching, choreographing, or performing. You get paid the highest for choreographing (making up a routine for someone else).
What job do you do?
2. I am a dancer! I perform all types of dance, from ballet to jazz to tap. I also teach kids and adults how to dance.
Do you practice?
3. I practice A LOT! Most of my job is practicing. Sometimes we have 8 hours of rehearsal in one day!
How do you become a gymnast?
4. To become a gymnast or dancer, you usually have to start taking classes when you're young. I started at age 3. It takes years of practice to be able to do some of the moves you see on TV. But don't worry! Some of the most famous dancers got a late start in their training. It's never too late!
How do you do flips?
5. Flips and other tricks are learned over several months or years of training, in a safe environment with a professional trainer. Don't attempt at home!
Do you have to go to college?
6. Most dancers go to college for a degree in Dance Performance or Dance Composition. But you don't have to have a degree to be a professional dancer! Gymnasts do not have to hold a degree to compete.
Do you have to be focused?
7. You have to be really focused to be a dancer or gymnast. The advanced tricks and moves take some serious focus to be performed correctly. Being distracted during a performance could cause mistakes or injury!
Do you have to be flexible?
8. Dance and gymnastics require great flexibility. At each practice, we spend lots of time stretching. We stretch every part of our body including our wrists, necks, and even our toes!
What is fun?
9. Dancing and gymnastics are SO FUN! The most fun thing you can do, in my opinion. I love doing big leaps and turns across the stage. It's an adrenaline rush!
Do you like being a gymnast?
10. I love being a dancer. I couldn't imagine doing anything else.
Is flipping scary?
11. Flipping is definitely scary, but it's less scary after you've practiced and feel confident.
