Nora & Salma M.'s Homemade Face Mask Tutorial

For our CAS Project, we created a joint video on how to create a face mask to protect from germs. This kind of video may be extremely necessary to people who do not have access to face masks at the moment. In NYC it is urged that when going outside one wears a mask to limit and slow the spread of the novel coronavirus. In the video below, we will show what materials are necessary and then do a step-by-step walkthrough to create the mask. Through creating this video we loved being able to create a point of help for anyone in our community who may still need masks or wants to learn how to create them so they can later donate them to doctors and nurses. Even though we are all quarantined separately in our homes, this project allows for us to connect with the community at BFS.

As part of their Creativity Activity Service (C.A.S.) Project, Nora ‘20 and Salma '20 explain how to make a homemade mask with easy-to-find materials! The materials are as follows:

  • Bandana

  • 2 hair ties or rubber bands

  • Coffee or tea filter

Directions:

  1. Fold bandana in half

  2. Place filter in the center of the bandana

  3. Fold top half and bottom half of the bandana over the filter

  4. Slip on hair-ties and fold towards the bottom corner, tucking the folds into the interior of the mask.

  5. Try on your mask!
