You will be given a lot of guidance about how to use the e-portfolio on your programme when you start, and an accompanying document with your competencies will be shared with you in January.
Follow these steps in this document to set up your e-portfolio
Please remember not to change anything on the portfolio until you duplicate a copy that is then your own to make changes to.
2. Write a short reflection (of no more than 400 words) using the guidance below (How to write critical reflections at level 7).
This should be placed on the 'story of your learning page', create a new text box by using the icon panel to the right of your portfolio screen (as seen in the picture right).
The theme of your reflection is
'what is your key emotional response about the year ahead, as a student in the current climate'.
Please reference this work.
Your reflection will help us to ascertain your level of understanding and skill about both the use of this portfolio, and critical reflection following our guidance. When your Practice Assessor meets you in the first weeks they will be able to guide you further on how to develop your written reflections based on this activity, which provides a baseline for us to see how you write.
You also have the opportunity to master the IT skills you will need in the coming year, without the pressures of the first weeks of the programme on your shoulders.
We have developed a quick user-guide to help you understand what is expected of you in the written reflections in your e-portfolio. It would be useful to practice these tips now.
It is useful to now consider how you will move away from the familiarity of a reflective module you used in previous study, and move to a different approach. Be prepared to move on in your reflective style of writing as we ask you do this a little differently, and we will explore this ore in your induction week.
In your e-portfolio we ask you to conditioner the 'story of learning' rather than the 'story of what happened'; move away from the detail of the event to what you have 'distilled' and learnt from one small aspect of the interaction or scenario. Something to think about!
If you have any challenges please do email jennifer.kirman@brookes.ac.uk and I can see if I can help with any IT issues before the pre-course workshop in December
