One of the key anxieties before you start is the prospect of studying at level 7. It is a 'step up' academically and there is also a difference in how you will experience the teaching, this will become clear. Here, we want to signpost you to some simple tips and guides to help you before you start. Please take time to read and follow the links on this page.
Part of this preparation is how you make time for the study that is required in the year ahead, what are the practical arrangements to think about, and what are the tools that can help you now and in the coming year.
You will be supported at the beginning of each module to understand what is asked of you in terms of the module assessment. You will be provided with an opportunity (and we strongly encourage you to use this) to submit 'formative' work for each of your modules (where appropriate). This means that we ask you to submit part of the assignment you are writing for example and you will receive feedback (on your referencing, academic writing style, content and topic choice for example).
You will have contact with your Academic Assessor to assist you one a 1-2-1 basis in understanding your assignment brief too. Your virtual learning environment (Moodle) will contain forums for you to ask questions.
We feel that we understand some of the challenges you will face in the coming programme, so we have also built in some 'masterclasses' to help you navigate some of the elements of your programme that can be anxiety-provoking. These masterclass's include a math's master class fin preparation for the (prescribing) numeracy assessment; a critical assignment writing workshop; a marking masterclass so that you can what level 7 work looks like and understand the marking criteria and library searching masterclass to understand contemporary searching for resources.
