We don't really want you to start the course before you do, so we don't provide you with an extensive reading list now, as the topics we cover with you make more sense when applied to practice and in the context of learning while in your new role.
It is a good idea however to start to identify what the gaps in your knowledge may be and read around these topics as you feel you wish to. You can take free online short courses with 'e-learning for health' in some key and important topics in your field of practice. To do this you need to use your NHS email.
Key policy documents are The Healthy Child Programme 0-5 and 0-19 (DH, 2009) documents and the Healthy child programme: rapid review to update evidence.
Please also familiarise yourselves with HV 4 5 6 and School Nurse 4 5 6 models.
There are a range of useful online resource you can access, please do use existing online resources available to you. Sign up required with your NHS credentials.
The Open University offer a 6 hour course (two x three hour sessions) to prepare you to be an online learner. Please do consider this in your preparation. See the link here
We have been working with Brook to provide you with online education resources on sexual consent, to explain what consent means, and the University’s expectations. We are asking all students to help us make safer, more inclusive spaces for everyone in the Oxford Brookes community by completing our sexual consent education modules now.
Please acess this closer to your start date.
Please do see the study skills section and the e-portfolio section for further preparation
