Further Education and Training

Further Education and Training (FET) covers Grades 10 to 12 in schools and equivalent levels in FET colleges (previously called technical colleges), namely NQF levels 2 to 4 and National Technical Certificates 1 to 3.

Subject choices in this phase are varied. The following subjects/subject choices are a requirement for exemption:

• English Home Language

• English First Additional Language

• Afrikaans Home Language

• Afrikaans First Additional Language

• isiXhosa

• isiZulu

• Setswana

• Siswati

• Mathematics / Mathematical Literacy

• Life Orientation

In addition, students can take a combination of the following subjects (this list shows the most commonly offered subjects):

• Physical Science

• Life Science

• Accounting

• Geography

• Business Studies

• History

• Economics

• Computer Applications Technology (CAT)

• Information Technology (IT)

• Engineering, Graphics and Design (EGD)
