What is Dual Language?

Dual Language is the opportunity for students to become fluent in a second language and strive for excellence while doing so. It is proven that knowing a second language can make many positive impacts on children, some of these are better memory, better critical-thinking, and the ability to multitask. These are only some of the many benefits of being bilingual!

What do you do as a Dual Language student at Olive Middle School?

At Olive Middle School, students in the program have two Dual Language classes each day. These two classes are Social Studies and of course, Spanish. All other classes are in English. In our Spanish class we read books, make projects, and more.

What are some benefits that come with Dual Language?

A big benefit that comes with being a Dual Language student is that you get to learn a different language and the history behind it. Being in Dual Language not only helps you in school, it also helps if you are looking for a job that requires you to have to talk to people. This is important because you are able to speak two languages. This helps in the situation where you are speaking to somebody who can only speak Spanish. Because of your experience in Dual Language, you are able speak Spanish fluently.
