What is Band?
Band is an elective class at Olive Middle School. Students learn how to play different instruments. There are a variety of instrument options including clarinets, trumpets, trombones, saxophones, flutes, French Horn, drums, bells, etc. Here at Olive Middle, there is a beginning band in 6th grade if you are just starting to learn an instrument, and an advanced band consisting of the 7th and 8th graders, along with concert band.
Events
Throughout the year, band members had field trips to play songs for major events. Students also have playing tests, to check your progress, and how they are doing. This year our 7/8th grade Advanced Band performed at Crypto.Com Arena for the Harlem Globetrotters.
Our wonderful Band Director, Mr. Thomas, is a piano player who always helps his students. Mr. Thomas can also play many instruments.
If you choose to join Concert Band. Mr. Thomas will show you performances, give you music-making assignments, and teach you how to play the piano.
