Organized with the support of the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD), the TBI Summit serves as a premier platform for advancing innovation and entrepreneurship. It aims to strengthen the operations of TBIs by nurturing collaboration, sharing strategies, and addressing challenges faced by startups and incubators.
The BPSU TETO delegation included Ms. Andrea O. De Jesus, Manager of the Technology Business Incubator Unit (TBIU) and Patent Manager of the Intellectual Property Unit (INPU); Ms. Cris Pearl G. Rivera, staff member of the Technology Transfer Unit (TETU); Mr. Edrian S. Bautista, Technology Transfer Associate of BPSU SIKAT TBI; and Engr. Jedidiah Charisse M. Lugtu, staff member of TETO.
The three-day event commenced on November 25 with a Pre-TBI Summit at Seven Seas Waterpark and Resort. Lectures focused on venture engineering and strategies for TBI sustainability were presented by experts from BluC 53, a Strategic Management Services company based in Singapore. The team-building activities were held after induced engagement among participants from across the Philippines.
On November 26, the main summit at Limketkai Luxe Hotel featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, fireside chat, and reports from various business experts, startup founders, and investors that addressed critical topics in startup ecosystems and TBI management. An awarding ceremony also honored exemplary startups, together with their respective TBIs, who received global recognition from 2023-2024. The event highlighted the importance of TBIs in driving technological advancement and promoting economic growth, with DOST-PCIEERD ensuring the relevance and impact of these discussions.
The summit concluded on November 27 with workshops and an open forum at Cove Garden Resort, focusing on the development and polishing of LAKAS RESEED National Portal, an initiative aimed at consolidating startup and TBI data to provide transparency. Discussions and presentations on how policies will be implemented per consortium to achieve a fully operational portal by the next TBI Summit concluded the event.
The active participation of BPSU TETO in the TBI Summit highlights the university's commitment to advancing innovation and supporting entrepreneurial initiatives. Their involvement reflects a proactive approach to supporting the development of startups and ensuring that BPSU remains at the forefront of technology-driven progress within the national TBI network.
