BPSU SIKAT Explores Innovation Linkages with SBMA BID-ICT and DICT Bataan

BPSU SIKAT Technology Business Incubator (TBI) hosted an exploratory meeting with the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority Business and Investment Department for ICT (SBMA BID-ICT) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Bataan to introduce its incubation practices and explore potential collaborations to strengthen startup ecosystems in Bataan and the Subic Bay Freeport Zone. The meeting took place at the SIKAT TBI Co-Working Space, May 16.
Dr. John Ryan Dizon, Director of the Technology Entrepreneurship and Transfer Office (TETO), led the discussion with Engr. Camay Villeroz, Technical Adviser for the Technology Business Incubation Unit (TBIU). Ms. April B. Magtoto and Mr. Hector Olivier B. Villarez represented SBMA BID-ICT, while Provincial Director Engr. Steffan Dale Martensen attended on behalf of DICT Bataan.
BPSU SIKAT TBI shared its initiatives under the HEIRIT project, including business incubation, market validation, and investment readiness programs to support early-stage startups. SBMA expressed plans to develop dedicated startup spaces in the Freeport to boost the local startup economy, while DICT Bataan presented its RAISE program, focused on nurturing ICT startups and enhancing digital innovation.
As BPSU expands its innovation network, the meeting highlighted a shared interest in establishing stronger regional linkages. The university’s efforts demonstrate a forward-looking approach to inclusive innovation, aiming to create opportunities that extend beyond campus and across sectors in Central Luzon.
